Banner Project

 

Providing display banners or mouse pads to schools.

The Preamble Institute will promote the foundational statement in the Declaration of Independence by providing a beautiful textile banner or mouse pads for display in a classroom.  These banners or mouse pads will be made available to schools at no cost based on support and contributions of citizens, parents and product sales.  Of course, a school may purchase the banners or mouse pads at an extremely low cost.

The Preamble is a great expression of HOPE and OPPORTUNITY!

Some Examples of how Learning can be Inspired

Rights - What are your rights?  Study history to see how the rights of people have changed over the centuries.

Life - Study biology to determine how life exists and how it is created.

Liberty - Learn how the structure of government affects your personal liberty and freedom.

Pursuit of Happiness - How does and economic system work to promote your happiness.  What will optimize this experience.

LEARNING FOR A PURPOSE

This simple, one sentence defines the major divisions in the world, both political and religious.

We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

Absolute truth vs Relative truth

Creator vs Evolution

Unalienable vs Changeable

Liberty vs Regulation

Life controlled by nature or man

Happiness sought or given and taken

By displaying this single sentence from the Preamble, a student will be reminded of why America is unique and exceptional.  Secondly, the concepts offer an opportunity to present learning with a purpose.  Often, students are simply presented with collecting knowledge, with no real connection to their lives.  However, by connecting the learning process to these principles, a student will gain the knowledge to understand why these principles are set forth.  This gives students the wisdom and ability to live their lives truthfully and productively.

Subjects a student should study to understand the Preamble.

  • Philosophy - What is truth?  What is self-evident
  • Theology - What is a Creator?  Is there one?
  • Law - Who establishes rights?  Why are laws important
  • Biology - How is life created?  How does life survive?
  • Government - What is the best form of government?
  • Economics - What economic model and tax system is optimal?
  • History - Study the past to understand the future. How did we get to this point to create the Declaration of Independence?
  • Critical Thinking - All these subjects exist on a continuum and choices need to be made.  Often there are opposing principles and practices which need to be investigated and resolved.

 

Consequences in  the concepts of the Preamble.

Science and technology not controlled by these Preamble concepts permitted the construction of ovens during the Holocaust.

There is an implied order of the cosmos, which means nature may be discovered, analyzed and simulated with a certainty.

There is an underlying evil when any of these rights are denied.

A culture or society are valued by how they treat these basic rights of humanity.
